Description
POSITION PURPOSE
The Communications Coordinator will support ERC’s communications and marketing efforts, including managing and growing the company’s social media channels. The Communications Coordinator will work to ensure that all ERC content is relevant, informative, accurate and within brand standards. Additionally, the Communications Coordinator will work to build positive brand awareness within the community and among customers regarding ERC’s customer service, facilities, and philanthropic initiatives. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Support marketing day-to-day operations including media campaigns, promotions and projects.
a. Daily management and monitoring of all social media channels; responding to any customer inquiries received within one business day. 
b. Daily research and distribution of industry-related news clips.
c. Develop a monthly social media content calendar. 
d. Write, edit and distribute monthly employee eNewsletters.

2. Collaborate with other ERC departments and leadership for various communications tasks.
a. Work with Operations and Maintenance Teams to prepare and distribute weekly traffic advisories.
b. Work with Human Resources and Customer Care to support employee communications initiatives. 
c. Coordinate logistics for CEO speaking engagements or meetings with outside organizations such as chambers of commerce, boards and commissions, rotary clubs, and ERC’s community partners. 

3. Ensure brand consistency and accuracy in all communications, marketing, advertising and public relations efforts.

4. Serve as the “on-call” contact for after-hours traffic emergencies to coordinate the release of pertinent information to the media and public via phone, email, and social media.  

5. Coordinate paid social media campaigns and graphic design needs with outside agency partners. 

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

1. Communications activities are effectively and efficiently completed and support Company goals and objectives.
2. All communications materials reflect brand consistency and accuracy. 
3. All social media channels are properly managed and monitored, and all inquiries are responded to within 1 business day. 
4. The Communications Manager is well supported.
5. The Communications Manager is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
6. Activities are completed within deadline and budget requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing. A social media-related certification is a plus. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE 
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. 
Knowledge of best practices in communications and marketing methods and techniques.
Significant knowledge and experience utilizing major social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. 
Knowledge of and experience using an email marketing system, preferably Mailchimp. 
Knowledge of content development for social media, websites, blogs, eBlasts, eNewsletters, and other print/digital materials. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Two years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and/or education.  

SKILLS/ABILITIES
Outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills; AP Style proficiency.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously while working collaboratively with other departments and advertising agency partners to accomplish successful results on deadline and budget.
Creative self-starter who takes initiative, can work both independently and as an effective team member.
Possess the ability problem solve while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. 
Experience or the ability to actively learn and master skills necessary for managing Mailchimp, the email marketing system, and WordPress, the website content management system (CMS). 
Skilled expertise in managing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. 
Basic familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe, etc.) is a plus. 
Basic photography and videography capabilities for meetings and events, including post-event photo editing and archiving. 
Ability to work safely and to identify unsafe behaviors/conditions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
Able to work weekends, evenings, early morning hours, and holidays as required.
A basic understanding of local transportation infrastructure such as highways, tunnels, and bridges is a plus.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.  Exerts up to 10 lbs of force occasionally.  (Almost all office jobs.)


WORKING CONDITIONS

NONE: No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. (Such as in a typical office.)


MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization.  
Able to interpret various instructions.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY
Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with money; to perform operations with units such as inch, foot, and yard; ounce and pound (or their metric counterparts).

LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias.  
Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar.  
Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent) and variation in word order; using present, perfect, and future tenses.
