Description
 POSITION SUMMARY:


Responsible for assisting in planning, developing, and implementing training activities throughout the Company. Identifies training needs and designs support materials including audio-visual aids, computer presentations, manuals, workbooks, and scripts. Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and employee performance. Maintains training library resources and distributes materials to managers, personnel, and volunteers as needed. Assists in the preparation of the Training and Development budget and coordinates library resources with Company objectives and goals. Provides support in the planning and implementation of large events and meetings.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
1. Assumes responsibility for developing and implementing effective Training policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assists management in identifying Company training and development needs
  • Evaluates training programs and services. Provides recommendations and suggestions for improvements.
  • Designs and develops training procedures and programs. Prepares audio-visual aids, training manuals, scripts, and workbooks.
  • Conducts training sessions to ensure Company personnel are effective in their respective positions. Delivers employee orientations, on-the-job training programs, and in-service activities as necessary.
  • Assists in preparing the Training and Development budget.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a Training Resources library and related audio-visual equipment.
  • Assists in coordinating and scheduling training activities.
  • Completes training functions in accordance with established programs and procedures.
2. Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relations exist with volunteers, vendors, and trade professionals.
  • Represents the Company in contacts with consultants and trade professionals.
  • Ensures requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved. Ensures communications are efficient and effective.
  • Ensures the Company’s professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.

3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Company personnel and with Management.
  • Ensures employees are informed of programs and policies.
  • Resolves employee requests, complaints, and problems courteously and promptly.  Counsels employees and managers concerning job-related matters.
  • Assists Department personnel.  Provides support on training and benefits programs.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.  Completes required reports accurately and promptly.  Attends meetings as required.
     
4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. 
  • Writes and prepares training articles.
  • Stays current on training programs and procedures.
  • Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Assumes other related duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
  • Training goals are established and executed to effectively meet the needs of personnel at all levels of the Company. Staff is knowledgeable and competent in respective job functions. Training needs are effectively identified.
  • Training resources are well developed, functional, and easily accessible.
  • Training activities are well coordinated and scheduled with individual departments. Support is provided as required.
  • Training procedures are regularly reviewed and modified as needed. New training systems and resources are developed and implemented as needed.
  • Professional business relations exist with volunteers and external trade contacts.
  • Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education/Certification:            High school graduate or equivalent.

Additional related coursework preferred.

                                               
Required Knowledge:                Understanding of job functions and operations at all levels of the Company.

Knowledge of training systems and resources.

 

                 
Experience Required:              Two to four years of experience in training related positions.

Skills/Abilities:                                Strong leadership skills.
                                                             Ability to plan, develop, and implement curriculum.
                                                             Well organized 
                                                             Solid communications abilities     
\                                                            Able to meet deadlines.    
                                                             Must be wiling to work a flexible schedule 
                                                             Ability to obtain a Criminal History Background Check nd drug screen.
                                                             
Valid Virginia Driver License within 6 months.                 

                                        

 
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
 
Finger Dexterity:                       Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
 
Talking:                                      Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing:                      Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
 
Repetitive Motions:                  Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
 

Average Visual Abilities:         Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
 
Physical Strength:                   Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.  Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.  (Almost all office jobs.)
 
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
 
None:                                        No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).
 
 
MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
 
REASONING ABILITY:                     Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization. 
                                                                          Able to interpret various instructions.

 
MATHEMATICS ABILITY:              Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs.                                                                  
 
LANGUAGE ABILITY:                     Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias. 
                                                                Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling, and  grammar. 
                                                                Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent), and variation in word order using present, perfect, and                                                                         future tenses.
